On the retirement of City of Lakewood City Manager John Caulfield

by Charles Ames

I met John when I was Chair of the Public Safety Advisory Committee and President of the Springbrook Neighborhood Association.

I'm sure I alternated between his biggest fan and his biggest pain in the ass.

But I don't think it is a stretch to say he might be at the reason I became involved in community service.

Any question I emailed to him earned nothing less than an entire page of response. He gave me a thorough understanding of how a City can work. And in his case, how it did.

I agree he cannot be replaced, but only succeeded.
