Post-Election Audit of Tabulation Equipment Successful for the 2026 General Election | pierceco

Pierce County Elections conducted a routine post-election audit of its tabulation equipment on November 5, 2026. The process, known as a batch audit, successfully verified the accuracy of ballot counting equipment used in the 2026 General Election.

Observers from the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, and the League of Women Voters  Tacoma-Pierce County, representing independent voters, were invited to attend this public process held at the Pierce County Election Center in Tacoma. This routine testing is conducted in each county after each election, per RCW 29A.60.170.

In the batch audit, Pierce County Elections staff conducted a hand count of Supreme Court Justice Position 1 in five randomly selected batches of 250 ballots each. The purpose of the audit is to ensure the hand count matches final elections results. All results matched.

Full results of the audit are available here. Pierce County’s certification of the election is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on November 24, 2026.
