As temperatures drop and clocks change, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) encourages customers to prepare for winter weather and possible power outages.
Although PSE invests in grid upgrades, maintenance, and vegetation management to improve reliability, severe weather may still cause service interruptions. We encourage residents to take steps now to stay safe and prepared.
Storm preparedness tips:
Keep emergency supplies at home and in your vehicle, including flashlights, batteries, and non-perishable food.
Fully charge phones and backup battery packs before storms arrive.
Have a battery-powered or hand-crank radio available for emergency updates.
Unplug sensitive electronics during outages to help prevent damage when power is restored.
Download the myPSE app or visit PSE's outage map to report outages and track restoration progress.
Stay safe during outages:
Never approach downed power lines. Stay at least 35 feet away and report hazards to 911 or PSE.
Never use outdoor grills, generators, or charcoal indoors due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Use flashlights instead of candles for emergency lighting.
Keep portable heaters away from furniture, curtains, and other flammable materials.
