The Arlington Project - a ‘measure of devotion’

Travelers past Clover Park High School may be overwhelmed by the ‘row upon row’ of markers, 7000 of them, placed by hundreds of Clover Park High students.

This is the 18th year that Clover Park High School has honored Memorial Day in this way. Students represented service as band members, choir, ushers, even Masters of Ceremony.

Clover Park School District Superintendent Ron Banner isolated the essence of the remembrance this way…
"These rows of markers standing in solemn tribute represent the military personnel who have given their lives in service to our nation. This project is not just a display. It's not just something that we do, it is our community's act of remembrance, because while it's done by the folks here at Clover Park High School, it is our community that engages, and I see more and more of our community each year. It is how we honor the sacrifice of those who have given the 'last full measure of devotion' and express our unwavering support for those who continue to serve. These markers are symbols of real lives lost, real families changed forever and a community that remembers in the words of the military oath these brave individuals swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
