Candidate Forum, Position #1, Philip Lindholm
The Lakewood Lyre provides the opportunity for candidates to address questions that affect Lakewood residents.
The Lyre will include background it believes will affect voters.
Philip Lindholm responded first. He is a candidate for Position #1, which will be vacated by Jason Whelan.
What local organizations are you a member of?
Lakewood Planning Commission; Lakewood Rotary; Pierce County Dispute Resolution Center; Continuum of Care Board
What is the first item you will push for upon induction?
Before any single initiative, my commitment is to ensure every resident feels heard and included in shaping the direction of our community. I want to bring Lakewood together around a shared table that includes neighbors, small businesses, faith groups, civic organizations, and youth so that the policies we advance reflect the voices of the people who live here.
What issue should we address that may still be years down the road?
The City of Lakewood has already made significant investments in our roads, sidewalks, and other infrastructure, but increased density will require even more forward-thinking planning to keep pace. By 2044, Lakewood is expected to accommodate over 9,000 new homes. That growth will place real pressure on our roads, utilities, and public services. If we prepare now with smart and steady investments, then we can ensure that new growth strengthens our quality of life rather than straining it.
Do you plan to seek any other elected offices in the future?
I am solely focused on serving Lakewood through its City Council.
Lyre note;
Lindholm holds a doctorate in Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington.
