Service Club; Lakewood Rotary
Lakewood Rotary was chartered in 1956. Since then, we have contributed over $5M to Lakewood and the world. Some of the major projects include Lakewood’s first rescue vehicle, the renal dialysis center at St. Joseph’s Hospital, YMCA start up, Lakewood Boys & Girls Club support, the playground at Ft. Steilacoom Park, the original ballfields and the Pavilion at Ft. Steilacoom Park, the International Baccalaureate program startup for the Clover Park School District, and many, many others. Our current major projects are the H-Barn ($50K) and Nourish ($100K). In addition to these major projects, we grant between $20K and $30K to many Lakewood needs, including Caring for Kids, Lakewood Playhouse, LASA, Clover Park School District specific needs, and many more.
Lakewood Rotary’s success over these many years has been fueled in part by the fellowship and enjoyment that our members get in fundraising and “boots on the ground” projects. And just plain having a good time with our friends: Roadster Romp, Christmas dinner/dance, Sunriver ski trip, floating “board meeting” on Lake Steilacoom, bowling, plays, golf and so much more. We like each other.
